# Monitoring Payments

LND has multiple interfaces for monitoring payments and other activites on your node.

- **REST** – Asynchronous interface that requires polling to check for payment updates. Best used when simplicity or HTTP tooling is preferred.
- **WebSockets** – Synchronous, event-driven interface for streaming real-time data. Usable in both server-side and browser environments.
- **gRPC** – Synchronous, bidirectional streaming interface offering efficient real-time updates. Ideal for server-side applications needing persistent connections and low latency.
- **Webhooks** – Event-driven HTTP interface for receiving real-time payment and node events via POST requests.
